Topic of the film is the unexpected arrival of menstruation and the protagonist´s perception of other people’s reactions towards her “state”. As soon as the M arrives, the protagonist realizes she is completely unprepared since there are no menstrual pads or tampons in her purse. With that, an absurd mission filled with obstacles begins. She tries to keep the “red waterfall” gushing between her legs hidden, which symbolizes overthinking and a panicky state of mind. Through the protagonists’ actions, the author is questioning society and its relation to the individual. She also questions the attitude, which the society has towards menstruation and how the individual deals with the same red taboo subject. People tend to forget that they are not the only ones going through these natural “sates” and that there are many people for whom those “states” are yet to come– and that is completely natural.

Karla Skok (born in Varaždin, Croatia, in 1995) is an animator. Animation production first peaked her interest at the age of 14, and that was when she became a member of Vanima, an animation studio for children in Varaždin. After finishing high school, she applied to the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. Her first application was denied. However, one gap year and a lot of preparation later, she successfully enrolled in the Animated Films and New Media programme. Three years later, she gained the bachelor degree with the digital 2D animated short film called ‘’The M’’ (2019.), under the mentorship of professor Darko Bakliža. Currently, she is studying in the Animated film graduate track at the Academy. Her style is mostly cartoony with a comical atmosphere.
