Stribor’s Forest by Milan Blažeković to be finished in July 2019
The picture of animated film “Stribor’s Forest ” (13 minutes) directed by Milan Blažeković has been finished. We are working on image editing and setting up of tones, music and voices. The last animated film by Milan Blažeković (1940-2019) will be completed in July 2019.
Restauration of “Escape” by Zvonimir Lončarić and “Happiness” by Zlatko Pavlinić
Two films in bad condition are currently restoring at Iridium film in Ljubljana! Those films are “Escape” directed by Zvonimir Lončarić from 1969 (6 min) and “Happiness” directed by Zlatko Pavlinić from 1976 (12 min). It is expected that restoration and digitalisation will be done by the beginning of summer.
“From under which rock did they crawl out” by Daniel Šuljić to be screened in Annecy
Another great success for Daniel Šuljić and his newest animated film “From under which rock did they crawl out”! The movie is in competition programme of Perspectives, renowned festival of animated films in Annecy in France! The festival will take part from June 10t to 15th.
New award for “Bobo” by Andrej Rehak
Animated film “Bobo” directed by Andrej Rehak won an award for most innovative short film at International Film Festioval R2R that took place from 7th until 13th of April in Vancouver u Canada!
Two films supported by the Croatian Audiovisual Centre
In March, Croatian Audiovisual Centre (HAVC) has supported Zagreb Film by approving the funds for two animated projects.
Our movies to be screened during Animafest Zagreb in June
Animafest, the only A category film festival in Croatia will be held from 3rd to 8th of June in Zagreb!
Restoration of Croatian animation film heritage
Ater studio currently performs the restoration of three animated films by Nikola Kostelac and Zlatko Pavlinić and four documentary films by B. Balen, O. Gluščević, R. Sremac and Z. Sudović.

“Themes” by Danijel Žeželj was completed in February.
This film follows a journey through the humanist tradition of European art which turns into a tragedy of absurdity. It was made in 2D technique and lasts for 6 minutes and 30 seconds.
Restoration of films by Kostelac, Pavlinić, Marks and Jutri
Along with the animated film, 8 documentary films will be restored in 2019.

Year 2018 in Numbers

PRODUCTION NEWS (Q3 2018)
In October, the production of a new experimental animated film “Colonel Futurista” directed by Vladislav Knežević began. It’s a fantastic story about the adventure of Giuseppe Rosignol. Mario Kalogjera, Pavao Stanojević and Damir Šuša will also work on the film. The film is scheduled to release in Spring/Summer of 2019.
Restoration of the film heritage
Restoration of the 13 episodes of the animated series “Inspector Mask”, 4 documentary films and 2 short feature films has been completed.
“The First Step” to begin the festival distribution
2D animated film “First Step” (10 minutes) directed by Petra Kožar was finished in August.

65th anniversary
In 1953, the Croatian Union of Film Workers founded a film company Zagreb Film, which was supposed to deal with all kinds of film activities, from distribution to production of shorts and feature films.
Production of feature and documentary films to be continued
Zagreb’s film starts again with the production of short-feature and documentary films, and restarts the tradition of production and distribution of these film genres continues.
“Iris” by Lucija Bužančić to be presented at Visegrad Animation Forum
The animation project “Iris” by Lucija Buzačić, produced by Zagreb film, will be presented at the pitching forum during Visegrad Animation Forum (May 1-3, 2018.)
Three new films to be distributed from March 2018
Starting from March 2018, Zagreb film has three new short animation movies in distribution.
Zagreb film around the world
During March, our movies will be screened in the programs of the following festivals: FICAM Morocco, Festival International du Film d’Aubagne in France, GLAS animation film festival in Berkeley, USA and Balkan Days in Munich, Germany.
2017 recap: A successful year beyond us!
During 2017, Zagreb film has beed distributing 23 films (produced from 2015 – 2017).
Our films to be screened in Egypt!
Nine films produced by Zagreb film will be screened in the competition programme of 11th International Animation Forum, to be held in Cairo from Feb 15 to 22.
Restoration of animated ads from the ’50s has been finished
Zagreb film has finished the restoration process of animated advertising movies by Dušan Vukotić and Nikola Kostelac, produced in the 1950s.

CARRUS NAVALIS PRESENTED AT ANIMARKT IN LODZ
The movie “Carrus Navalis” was the Croatian representative at Animarkt Pitching, the only European event specialised for stop-motion projects, held from November 2-6, 2017.
“The Last Quest” by Božidar Trkulja awarded in Banja Luka
Members of the jury of International Animated Film Festival Banja Luka 2017 (held from Oct 23 to Oct 28) awarded “The Last Quest” by Božidar Trkulja, produced by Zagreb Film in 2017, with the Award for the best puppet animation technique.

“Ghost Town” by Marko Dješka awarded by Grand Prix award at the International festival of animated film “Constantine’s Gold” in Niš, Serbia, held from July 25 to 29.

The movie “The Last Quest” by Božidar Trkulja was awarded with a special mention in Croatian Competition of Animafest Zagreb 2017 festival.
Zagreb film presents the 8th International Workshop for Animated Film
For the eight year in a row, Zagreb film will organize the international workshop for animated film, from September 28 to October 2 2017, in Komiža on the Island of Vis, Croatia.
Zagreb film has been presented in Stuttgart
From May 2 to 7 2017, we had the honour to present our work at the International Festival of Animated Films in Stuttgart.
Our movie available on Labocine platform
During June 2017, our movie “Breakdown” by David Lovrić will be screened as a part of Labocine’s “Cabinet of Disorders” thematic programme.
30th Work-In-Progress Screenings
On April 22 in Zagreb Film’s cinema hall in Zagreb, we held the 30th Work-In-Progress screenings, with over 30 authors and animators. After the screenings, we hosted interesting and creative discussion.

Professor Balthazar is a Croatian animated television series for children about an old inventor that was produced between 1967 and 1978.
