THE INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP OF ANIMATED FILM
The International Workshop of Animated Film was created in 2010 in order to help young animated film-makers improve aside the world’s masters of animated film who, in turn, get to know the potential of Croatian animators. For four years, the workshop was held on the island of Rab, while the last three workshops were held in Komiža on the island of Vis. So far, the workshops were led by renowned speakers such as Ed Hooks (acting for animators) in 2016, Aleksej Aleksejev (character design) in 2015, Tim Allen and Ivana Bošnjak (stop motion animation and movement) in 2014, Tim Allen and Ivana Bošnjak (stop motion animation and creation of models) in 2013, Aleksej Aleksejev (development of a pilot for a TV series) in 2012, Phil Mulloy and Vera Neubauer (script development) in 2011, and Olga and Priit Pärn (storyboard making) in 2010. The workshops were remarkably-received by attendants and lecturers alike, which casts a positive light on this form of education. This type of knowledge is necessary for our young film-makers. Since 2016, the workshop has been available to professionals and art school students – primarily the Animation Department of the Academy of Fine Arts.
