COOPERATION BETWEEN ZAGREB FILM AND THE ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS IN ZAGREB
Zagreb Film and the Academy of Fine arts have been collaborating for many years on many projects. Classes at the Animation and New Media Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb are in part held at the Zagreb Film premises, at Nova ves 12, in the House of Croatian Film. The next step of this collaboration is taking place during the post-production of student films and later during the festival distribution. Zagreb Film invests in the post-production of student films in order to become as competitive as possible in showing at international festivals. The students at the Animation and New Media Department of the Academy of Fine Arts produce, on average, five graduate films using various animation techniques. Zagreb Film funds professional post-production of video and audio. The funds are also used for creating projection copies (DCP, ProRes, DigiBeta, DVD) and leasing server space for uploading films. Zagreb Film wants to ensure that all graduate films receive the highest level of technical processing because only then it is possible to correctly asses the quality of films and send them to international animated film festivals with good results. Excellently rated graduate films are distributed as a reward for hard-working students. Students are familiar with this practice from the beginning of their studies and therefore they try, to the best of their abilities, to develop, design, and prepare projects which can be presented at festivals in the future.
For the seventh consecutive year, Zagreb Film has organized an international workshop for animated film in which first year graduate students get an opportunity to learn from the world’s leading experts in the area of animated film. Others, including many professionals, participate in workshops as well. You can read more about the workshop here.
Cooperation between Zagreb Film and the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb is supported by the City of Zagreb and the Croatian Audiovisual Centre.
